Happy New Year 2011!

Welcome to the first edition of the business couch, the communication forum of the
business support initiative.

Firstly, congratulations to the 239 Key decision makers of businesses, who utilized

Question: What are the 3 fundamentals of any business?

Our Response: CSA; C: Cash & Finance, S: Sales & Marketing and A: Administration. In a simple analogy, a tripod, where its legs are CSA is supporting a crystal ball, the business, placed on the top of it.

Question: Is it possible to focus on one of the 3 fundamentals of a business without eying the other two?

Our Response: Absolutely Not. Think of it this way; is it possible to shorten of lengthen the size of only one of the legs of business tripod without putting it off balance?


Knowing and appreciating the DNA of a business!

Although in numerous occasions and in various business articles I have touched upon the topic of DNA of a business and the critical role of its key decision maker(s) towards it, in an evolving and competitive market, it seems that more emphasis than ever is needed to be placed on this matter.

In any business, in its most simplistic form and shape, its DNA is comprised of People, Process and Information. This is why:

People: The most important and fundamental and infrastructural element of any business is people; i.e. without people a business will cease to exist. Furthermore, People is the major attributer to the dynamism of a business.

Process: Since process defines all necessary interactions within a business, as a road map, it is the main cohesive factor in streamlining all existing talents and resources towards reaching business goals and objectives. Without process, the collective behaviour of a group of people within a business will not be in harmony. Furthermore, time, resource, effort and energy will be wasted.

Information: Information is the single dominant element when people communicate in general and within a business in specific. Inevitably and in any business interaction, one disseminates information and the other one receives it. Also, while adhering to processes that is designed to streamline all activities within a business, interactively information is sent back and forth. As the result, once again, information will flow to either enhance a process or dissolve it all together. So, in a nutshell, the bi-directional flow of information always will be part of any business.

In reality, in many failed cases, when root caused, the trivial concept of
People-Process-Information was found to be the most overlooked element by the key decision makers of those businesses. Now, if this concept is so simple and is a must for any business, why it is not an integrated and respected part of every business?

To answer this question, the issue is not about "why" and is rather about "how". In other words, since 
People-Process-Information is an inseparable part of any business, every business has adapted some sorts of it, yet the issue is about how has this phenomenon been configured and incorporated in a business and how well its internal interactions are understood!; i.e. architecture of the delicate balance between three elements of People, Process and Information is an art, which is required to be mastered by the key decision maker of a business!

Now the main questions are:

1- How well has the
People-Process-Information phenomenon been put into perspective in your business?
2- How well does the 
People-Process-Information phenomenon function in your business?
